I love learning and have studied educational philosophy extensively in order to offer my children an environment in which they could thrive. I have home schooled
almost exclusively for the past 7 years. During those years, I began a program of self-study that eventually led me to BYU where I am now a senior in the Bachelor
of General Studies program. I also taught pre-school for 6 years prior to becoming a Mom. What I loved about both home schooling and teaching preschool was
that the learning environment could be tailored to each child's learning ability and style. Lakeview's mission allows for that same occurrence in the classroom.
I now have 6 children and count my time learning with them as treasured. I believe in the concept of families growing educationally together and see Lakeview as a
wonderful vehicle for families to develop as a whole. My interests include studying classics, writing and reading with my family.
I strongly support the mission and philosophy of Lakeview Academy. I am inspired by the dedication and knowledge of the parents involved. I am excited to
contribute to the school's success and am committed to ensuring the decisions we make are in line with the vision of our school. |

My background is in business management and accounting. I have 7 years of management experience and five years of accounting experience. I have been
responsible for direct supervision of staff along with writing policy manuals. Being the Treasurer is a really good fit for me.
I am on the founding council of Lakeview Academy and have been very involved in the school's development. I was the advisor for the facilities committee before
joining the Board of Trustees. It has been very inspiring to see the dedication of so many parents to the success of Lakeview. It is a wonderful
opportunity to participate in the development of such a great school.
I became interested in charter schools soon after my oldest child started kindergarten. It was very frustrating to see how many children are lost in an
environment where there are so many students that the teachers have a hard time meeting the needs of each individual. I am so excited about our mission and
philosophy here at Lakeview. I think that by providing our children with the opportunity to learn at their own level with an approach tailored to their learning
style will result in "Capable, Confident, and Contributing" individuals. By reducing the student to teacher ratio and providing our staff with the tools to give
each child a wonderful learning experience, Lakeview Academy can achieve its mission. I am very excited to see Lakeview Academy become the amazing school
envisioned in our charter. |

When Sir Winston Churchill was called to head up the war effort for Great Britain, he remarked that his whole life had prepared him for this hour. While I certainly
have no delusions that I am another Churchill, I do feel that all my life I have been preparing to work in education. From my earliest memories I seemed to have been
taking mental notes on what made a particular teacher effective. In fact, when I graduated from high school I had boxes filled with project ideas, feeling I would
need them someday. Besides having had the opportunity to observe good teachers, I have been fortunate to have had many work and volunteer experiences which have
added to my formal preparation for teaching. I taught first grade for three years. I have also had the unique opportunity to work and serve on several
committees that have restructured current education practices. These included working on a restructuring committee at BYU, working with curriculum for Alpine
School Districts alternative High School, and consulting for Alpine School Districts Title One program. I come to the board with a wealth of experiences in
education. Having seen and experienced first hand many frustrations a teacher experiences has served only to strengthen my resolve to make Lakeview
Academy the best school my children can attend. I want to help create a school that reaches out to each student allowing them to reach for the stars. I feel
that like Winston Churchill, I have been prepared for this hour. |

I started looking at charter schools about fours years ago; I wanted something more for my children than what I saw in public education. I was
thrilled to find Lakeview Academy and identified strongly with the mission and philosophy of the school. I became apart of the school's Founding
Council and have been actively involved in several different capacities over the past three years. I was Chairman of the Elementary Academic
Committee, Chairman of the Middle School Academic Committee and Academic Advisor for the school. Prior to my involvement with Lakeview Academy,
my previous educational experience includes teaching Special Education, French, English, and Preschool. I am grateful for these experiences and
know they will prove invaluable as a member of the board.
It has been said that "...no one can persuade another to change. Each of us guards a gate of change that only can be open from the inside."
I agree that real and lasting change must come from within. However, it has been my experience that change is most often spurred on by outside
events. I believe that as parents and educators work together to create fabulous learning opportunities for each student at Lakeview Academy;
these experiences will encourage students to open their "gate of change" helping them to become capable, confident and contributing members of the
community and world around them.
My husband Marc and I have four beautiful children and enjoy spending time together as a family. I enjoy chocolate, reading, sports, outdoor
activities, classical music and the arts. I have a B.A. in French and Humanities, with a teaching emphasis from Brighman Young University.

I have three children. They are precious and dear to me. When I think of their future, and the world into which they will emerge, I am
compelled to do what I can to prepare them academically to meet their challenges with their full potential. My desire is to uphold and enhance
the Lakeview Academy charter, volunteer my talents, and empower the administration and teachers to inspire, uplift and build confidence in the children
attending Lakeview Academy.
I support well-rounded curriculum including reading, history, art, music, and technology. I encourage education that helps children experience
and understand the vast world around them, and teaches them foresight to be prudent in their future. I pray that my children will leave Lakeview
Academy with a love for learning that will stay with them for their entire life.
I bring to the Lakeview Academy board a history of:
- self-education
- formal education (University of Utah)
- technology (work history)
- desire to serve

I am a firm believer that our children need to put forth effort in order to learn. Teachers are responsible for cultivating a learning
environment, giving direction, and support. Over the years I have had the opportunity to work with youth, in a variety of settings. As a
coach of youth sports, I tried to instill in my players the following; work hard, give your best effort, and always strive to improve upon your past
performance. It is by doing these things you become a winner. Lakeview Academy and our children will continue to be winners if collectively we
work hard, give our best effort, and strive for continual improvement.
I was born and raised in northern California. Upon completion of high school, I moved to Utah to attend college at Brigham Young University.
In 1995 I graduated with a BS degree in Physical Education, with and Athletic Training emphasis. Over the past ten years I have worked at Nature's
Way in Springville UT. My current position is as an Operations Planner. My wife and I live in Lehi with our four children. Our three
school-age children attend Lakeview Academy.
