Mrs. Ettinger — English I am excited to be teaching at Lakeview Academy again this year. I will be teaching 8th and 9th grade English and Yearbook for 2008-2009. I am looking forward to a great year of good grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and a continued focus on great literature. I received my BA in English from BYU in 1995, and my Secondary Ed teacher certification from UVSC in 2007. My husband and I have 5 children, and between our duties at Lakeview Academy and our children's schooling and activities, we stay really busy. When I have time, I love to cook, bake, read, scrapbook, and play my new guitar. I began reading when I was 4, and I haven't stopped since. I particularly love reading YA literature, books that are intended for teenagers. These books are often not only well-written and adventurous, but they also teach about the commonality of the human experience. We learn through experience, and since learning can be less painful when learned by proxy, reading is the best way for most of us to increase our education about life itself. I believe education should be a lifetime experience; it isn't about memorization. It's about internalizing important ideas and information and using those ideas to become a better person. We can change the world one person at a time.
