The lottery for the 2012-2013 school year is being held from December 15th-February 15th. After February 15th students will be added to a waitlist according to inquiry date and will not be included in the main lottery drawing.
If your student is already enrolled at Lakeview Academy this school year, they do not need to be entered into the lottery. They are automatically enrolled for the next year, unless we receive written notice indicating otherwise.
If you have a sibling of a student currently attending Lakeview, it is necessary to place their name in the lottery. Siblings of currently enrolled students will get priority, but still need to go through the lottery process.
Applicants accepted through the lottery process will receive mailed notification. Once you are notified that your student has been accepted, you must complete an enrollment packet and return it to the office no later than 14 days from the date on the acceptance letter. Failure to submit a completed packet by the date specified will be confirmation that the position offered has been declined.
It is necessary to apply each year as our database is purged annually to prepare for the lottery.

The Site Advisory Committee (SAC) is comprised of teachers, parents, and the directors of lakeview Academy. Its function is to insure activities, special events, and projects are well organized, funded and staffed. The SAC is an umbrella committee comprised of several small committees under the direction of the SAC Chairperson. We have a Publicity, Fundraising/financial, Sports, Elementary and Middle School Chairperson who also have their own committees which they direct.
The SAC meets the second Tuesday of every month at 3:15pm in the library. In our meetings we discuss upcoming events, plan for future events, and get the help and volunteers needed for those events and projects; which include, among others: Any musical/dance/drama performances, sports, science fairs, middle school events/projects, elementary special events/projects, fundraisers, publicity and so on. In a perfect scenerio, teachers will contact the appropriate SAC member to inform them of a need they might have (for example, parent judges for the Science Fair, or help at a Spelling/Geography Bee), and that Chair person would contact his/her committee and see that the need was met. If there was still a need, they would send it out generally throughout the school to find more volunteers to help.
It is a wonderful way to stay involved at the school and to keep the school running smoothly with all of its many wonderful and diverse programs and learning experiences for our children. Lakeview Academy is blessed to have so many opportunities available to our students. Science, music, art, drama, sports etc., and all of these things need many hands to make the work light. We are so pleased to be a part of the SAC and welcome any and all interested to join us.
Feel free to contact any one of us any time.
Hello, my name is LeAnn Peterson, and I am the Publicity Advisor at Lakeview, and the mother of Amanda (alumni) Andrew, Heather, Haley and Brandon Peterson. I graduated from BYU with a Bachelors in Education, and was a teacher of fifth graders 17 years ago, before my children were born, in the Provo School District, and I'm happy to be involved in the Lakeview community now as a volunteer.
I have really enjoyed getting to know the teachers, staff and other volunteers throughout my 3 years in this position. I'm not a "publicity professional," but have enjoyed giving of my time and learning more about how to let the community know about our wonderful school. We work to inform The Crossroads Journal, The Daily Herald, and other media about the good things happening at Lakeview. Our students have been featured on Fox 13's Big Budah "Cool School of the Week" program, on KUTV 4's morning news, on Disney Radio, and in the two newspapers mentioned.
In 2008 we worked hard to promote our school along with holding "a world-record squirt gun fight" event at the city's "Saratoga Splash" event, that also had the purpose of raising money for Cassie, a student that had cancer. We will continue to work hard to show the community what great things are happening at Lakeview, especially the accomplishments of our amazing students! I would welcome any ideas you have of how to promote our school to potential students.

I was born in Arizona, but raised in Sandy, Utah. After I graduated High School at Alta in Sandy, I moved to Arizona to attend Arizona State University (Go Devils!!) where I earned my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. While going to school, I met my husband and was married in 2003.
After graduation, I taught in the southeast valley within the Florence School District. I earned my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Arizona University and graduated in 2009. In October of 2008, my husband was offered a position in Utah.
We have two children; Hayley, who is five, and Conner, who is two. We also have a four-year-old chocolate lab named Braiden. When I have spare time, I enjoy learning new hobbies. I enjoy quilting, reading, canning, watching movies and TV, riding bikes, and going out to fun places with the family. I am also an avid college football fan and love going to watch a variety of sporting events with my family.
This is my first year here at Lakeview Academy. I truly enjoy teaching and am excited to work with the community as we raise outstanding students and the future leaders of society!
Hi, my name is Troy Gustafson and I teach history here at Lakeview. I grew up in American Fork and have lived in Utah most of my life with stops in Oregon and New York.
I graduated with BA from BYU ( go Cougars!) and have a MA Ed. From the University of Phoenix. Im married and have five children and one granddaughter.
I am a member of the Utah Civil War Association and the Utah Archaeological Society. I love teaching history and my goal is to help your student gain a greater appreciation for this state, and our great nation and those made our way of life possible.
Cami Purtschert (Parent):
"I cannot begin to express all that my children have gained since attending Lakeview Academy. They have excelled beyond anything I would have expected! We have been with the school since it first opened its doors and have seen the school grow in their commitment to students, education, parents and the community.
My oldest daughter is currently in the 7th grade and she loves it! The teachers are excellent and with the smaller class sizes, have more opportunities to give their students one on one attention and help as they see fit. I find it so important that she feels confident in who she is and what she can accomplish at school, and by having the more intimate setting of a smaller middle school, she has been able to be involved in many activities in the school where with a larger student base their wouldn't be as much or NO opportunity whatsoever.
I also find it comforting to know that with the smaller size, there aren't many, if any, opportunities for children to start down a path that would be destructive. I have seen no evidence of drug use, promiscuity, gangs, violence or bullying. Those are very present in the other middle schools and junior highs in our area and not having to worry about those things during these crucial formative years is a huge blessing and comfort.
Also, because of the uniform policy Lakeview Academy has, there is no competition to what people are wearing, and if it is "in", and therefore no pressure to "fit it" because they already do. Many think that because the middle school is smaller it affords less opportunities for learning, but this is not the case. They have student government, sports, arts, language, math, science, p.e., choir, orchestra, band, clubs, CTE and the list goes on. The education is superior to any other school my children have attended and I am grateful every day they attend Lakeview Academy. Education is priceless, why not go for the best!?
Tina Demling (Grandparent):
"My grandchildren have attended your school since January and I wanted you and your staff to know how pleased I have been with the initial experience. It has been wonderful to have the excitement in their voices again. As a Michigan retired educator of 34 years (math and computers Grades 6-12) I know how difficult it is to maintain enthusiasm, wonder and fun in the classroom.
I look forward to meeting you when I next come in for a visit."
The active participation of parents is vital to the success of Lakeview Academy. We believe that most parents seeking a charter school understand and have a strong desire for more involvement in their childs education. In general it is expected, that our parents volunteer of their time to be actively involved in the school.
We will suggest parents perform approximately four hours of school volunteer service per month and actively participate on one committee. Lakeview Academys structure is organized so that parents may have more involvement in the school.
