Curriculum

Physical Education / Health

Lakeview Academy is pleased to offer a comprehensive health education curriculum grades K-9.

Lakeview Academy is pleased to offer physical education at the elementary and middle school levels.

Physical Education

Elementary students participate in PE once a week, with a variety of activities focusing on play, sportsmanship and skill building.

Middle school students take PE each year, with 9th graders taking the  required Utah courses for graduation: PE 9 (Participation Skills) and PE 10 (Fitness for Life).  9th graders receive 1 full PE credit when they complete both semesters of PE at Lakeview.

Health

The Elementary Health program follows the Utah core standards.  1st and 2nd grade do not have specific Utah core standards, but learn the same basic concepts as the 3rd-6th grades in an age-appropriate manner.  Some of these basic concepts include emotional health, physical health, physical safety, and community health.

Middle School Health Education is mandated for students in grades 7 and 9 and follows the Utah Core standards.  Students have multiple opportunities to learn about and apply the healthy lifestyle choices they learn in these classes.

Health education at Lakeview is enhanced by character education classes. The school counselor teaches monthly character education classes to all students. Elementary classroom teachers reinforce these lessons with additional classes taught throughout the month.  The "Student of the Month" program showcases individual students who have shown capacity in living and exemplifying the monthly character traits focused on at Lakeview.
